Se realizará el diagnóstico biofísico y socioeconómico de la microcuenca “El Salado”, que abastece el acueducto de la cabecera del municipio de Timbío, con el propósito de registrar su estado social, económico y ambiental, documentarlo y que sea evidencia para la elaboración futura del plan de acción y manejo en la conservación de la microcuenca. La información primaria la otorgó la compañía, la comunidad y el personal de EMTIMBIO, con la cual se identificaron características socioeconómicas de la población y la problemática del territorio.
Se recopilaron los resultados de los estudios realizados mediante registros cartográficos de la zona, que identificaron aspectos biofísicos tales como la geología, el clima, los suelos, uso del suelo y la geomorfología, entre otros y con esta información se realizó el análisis del estado general de la cuenca, que evidencia que en la microcuenca “El Salado” se presentan procesos erosivos debido a sus características geológicas y el mal uso del suelo, lo que ha generado un riesgo a la empresa municipal de servicios públicos de Timbío, en cuanto a la calidad y cantidad de agua.
