Yo no sabía que era negra, pero a mí la negritud, mi pelo me la develó ser mujer negra en el Cauca : Recorriendo y haciendo caminos

Abstract

La necesidad de reconstruir el relato historiográfico en el que desde diferentes esferas sociales se dignifique a las mujeres afrodescendientes en Colombia, ha sido una apuesta desde lo individual y lo colectivo. Por eso esta investigación se propuso identificar las prácticas sociales, culturales y estéticas llevadas a cabo por las mujeres afrodescendientes en el departamento del Cauca, con el objetivo de conocer cómo estas inciden en la valorización de su identidad. Se empleó una metodología cualitativa en la que las entrevistas estructuradas y semi-estructuradas fueron las herramientas que permitieron la construcción de los relatos de vida de las participantes. Se concluyó que la valorización de las identidades de las mujeres afrodescendientes está mediada por la reconstrucción de la relación que tienen con su cabello, el cual resultó ser un símbolo de belleza, de empoderamiento social, estético y político para agenciar sus procesos de resistencia individual y colectivos ante un sistema que las oprime por su condición de raza y género.

The need to reconstruct the historiographical account in which women of African descent in Colombia are given dignity from different social spheres has been a challenge from the individual and the collective. This research aimed to identify the social, cultural and aesthetic practices carried out by women of African descent in the department of Cauca, with the objective of knowing how they affect the valorization of their identity. A qualitative methodology was used in which structured and semi-structured interviews were the tools that allowed the construction of the participants' life stories. It was concluded that the valorization of the identities of women of African descent is mediated by the reconstruction of their relationship with their hair, which turned out to be a symbol of beauty, social empowerment, aesthetic and political to organize their individual and collective resistance process against a system that oppresses them for their race and gender.
