Resumen:
The present research work consisted of the design, implementation and evaluation of workshops supported by Netflix for the practice of listening skills in the 10th grade students of the Nuestra Señora de Fatima Educational Institution in the city of Popayán, Colombia.
Eight workshops were designed based on different documentaries from the Netflix streaming platform that were reproduced in English, taking into account the communicative approach, the task-based approach, cooperative learning, and language assessment: listening.
In the methodological part, the mixed approach was used with the research and participatory action method, in addition to different information collection tools such as interviews, surveys and tests that allowed characterizing the participants in relation to their listening level of English and audiovisual preferences. Finally, these tools helped to quantify and write the results obtained. As a result, a tested bank of practical workshop material was created, demonstrating a positive impact on the listening ability and on the positive reception of the students towards this implemented methodology.
