The present research project consisted in the design of a prototype of an English-Nasa
Yuwe primer in order to contribute to the teaching of English in the Kite Kiwe indigenous
territory with students of the third and fourth grade of the Elias Trochez educational institution.
The primer was developed considering the cultural characteristics of the Nasa Yuwe indigenous
community, in order to make the learning of English more accessible in a contextualized way for
the students in such a way that it would not affect, on the contrary, allow the parallel learning of
the native language Nasa Yuwe. Aspects such as traditions, culture of the community and the
collection of information through direct observation, interviews, meetings, feedback, recordings
were taken into account. A qualitative approach and a descriptive action-research design were
used for this research. Regarding the creation and design of the primer, an exhaustive review of
existing educational materials was carried out, to take them as a reference and create new strategies according to the needs and characteristics of indigenous students. Interactive activities, practical exercises and visual
resources were included to encourage students' active participation and the development of
communicative skills in English. In conclusion, this research project provided an important
educational resource in the form of a prototype English-Nasa Yuwe primer, which contributes
greatly to the teaching of English in the Kite Kiwe indigenous territory based on the use of the
cultural context and seeking to strengthen the cultural identity of indigenous students. It was
concluded the importance of designing contextualized educational materials that respond to the
specific needs of the communities, students and promote an inclusive and equitable education.
El presente proyecto de investigación consistió en el diseño de un prototipo de cartilla
Inglés-Nasa Yuwe con el fin de contribuir a la enseñanza del inglés en el territorio indigena Kite
Kiwe con estudiantes del grado unificado tercero y cuarto de la institución educativa Elias
Trochez. La cartilla fue desarrollada considerando las características culturales de la comunidad
indígena Nasa Yuwe, con el fin de hacer más accesible el aprendizaje del inglés de una manera
contextualizada para los estudiantes de forma tal que no afectara, por el contrario, permitiera el
aprendizaje paralelo del idioma nativo Nasa Yuwe. Se tuvo en cuenta aspectos como las
tradiciones, cultura de la comunidad y la recolección de la información mediante la observación
directa, entrevistas, reuniones, retroalimentación, grabaciones. Para esta investigación se usó un
enfoque cualitativo y un diseño de investigación-acción descriptivo. En cuanto a la creación y
diseño de la cartilla se llevó a cabo una revisión exhaustiva de materiales educativos existentes,
para tomarlos como referencia y crear nuevas estrategias de acuerdo a las necesidades y
características de los estudiantes indígenas. Se incluyeron actividades interactivas, ejercicios
prácticos y recursos visuales que fomentaran la participación activa de los estudiantes y el
desarrollo de habilidades comunicativas en inglés. En conclusión, este proyecto de investigación
proporcionó un importante recurso educativo en forma de prototipo de cartilla Inglés-Nasa
Yuwe, que aporta en gran medida a la enseñanza del inglés en el territorio indígena Kite Kiwe
basándose en el uso del contexto cultural y buscando fortalecer la identidad cultural de los
estudiantes indígenas. Se concluyó la importancia de diseñar materiales educativos
contextualizados que respondan a las necesidades específicas de las comunidades, alumnos y
fomenten una educación inclusiva y equitativa.
