Entre el estado de bienestar y el neoliberalismo, es un ensayo que busca hacer un recorrido sobre estos dos conceptos en los periodos de aplicación de los mismos, criticas, ventajas entre otros aspectos.
Este se desarrolla sobre la noción de que el estado de bienestar es un modelo en el cual el estado interviene en la economía, a través de la generación de programas de empleo, seguridad social, subsidio de servicios públicos, entre otros; En este modelo, el estado es el responsable de proveer a la población las herramientas necesarias para cumplir sus necesidades básicas, la financiación de los programas sociales que ejecuta el estado de bienestar se hace por medio del recaudo de impuestos, los cuales se redistribuyen para satisfacer las necesidades de los ciudadanos.
Al ser el estado de bienestar un modelo en el que el estado provee a los ciudadanos de programas en pro de buscar su bienestar, este crea inconformidad entre los seguidores del liberalismo, porque no permite en gran medida la libre competencia entre empresas privadas.
Teniendo en cuenta esta inconformidad, se reúnen un grupo de neoliberales en pro de buscar un modelo que devolviera la fe en el capitalismo, y crear un nuevo liberalismo; Este nuevo liberalismo o neoliberalismo, se constituye como una ideología que va más allá del ámbito económico, llegando a los ámbitos social y emocional, a través de la creación de ideologías y patrones de comportamiento.
En esta nueva ideología neoliberal, se busca controlar las emociones y deseos de los sujetos, promoviendo patrones de comportamiento que sean aceptados por la mayoría, en este proceso se relega las costumbres propias de cada región y se mira al otro como un ser diferente o extraño.
