Resumen:
The current research addresses the phenomenon of teacher absenteeism caused by illness in an area of difficult access, as is the case of the Educational Institution Playa Rica in the municipality of El Tambo Cauca.
It is a qualitative research methodologically based on It is a qualitative research methodological based on three different cases of teachers who presented several health breakdowns, they came from urban areas and were part of pre-school, primary and secondary education teaching levels; giving, as a result, three semi-structured interviews reports. The triangulation and categorization process of the information was carried out by categories such as educational quality and professional profile, also teacher absenteeism due to illness and difficult access areas, occupational illness: physical disease and emotional problems. Beyond affecting educational quality, teacher absenteeism due to illness should be approached as an undermines problem in the teacher life quality teachers. It is a duty of government agencies to implement strategies that help to reduce the physical and mental illness problems which affect the Magisterium and hamper efforts to achieve educational quality in Colombia as a National Development Plan pillar for 2014-2018.
