Popayán a través del discurso y las prácticas modernizadoras, 1920-1940

Abstract

Este trabajo de investigación propone abordar desde la historia de las ideas y los métodos genealógico y deductivo, el discurso y las prácticas modernizadoras en Popayán de 1920 a 1940; como un arribo, al que le precede un panorama de la modernidad europea y de América Latina, las cuales presentan fuerzas determinadas, vinculadas una, a una historia formal y hegemónica y otra, a una historia tentativa que va cobrando forma de acuerdo a la naturaleza del contexto y a las ideas presentes en las mentes ilustradas, las cuales tuvieron sus miradas dirigidas al exterior. En este sentido, en la ciudad de Popayán, el discurso evocador del pasado, formó parte constitutiva de aquél presente, como estrategia modernizadora para superar el rezago económico, político y social en el que la sumergió su estructura colonial. Desde el discurso y la economía se construyeron ideas de bienestar: el Centenario de la Independencia (1810-1910), la Carretera del Norte, la Carretera del Sur, entre otras. Las fuentes documentales que se emplearon para este trabajo y para el soporte audiovisual del mismo fueron bibliografías, periódicos, revistas, registros oficiales, escrituras públicas, tesis, entrevistas, fotografías y videos documentales.

This research work proposes to approach from the history of the ideas and the genealogical and deductive methods, the discourse and the modernizing practices in Popayán from 1920 to 1940; as an arrival to the one that precedes him a brief panorama of the European modernity and of Latin America, which present certain, linked forces one to a formal history and hegemony and another to a tentative history that goes charging form according to the nature of the context and to the present ideas in the cultured minds, which had its looks directed to the exterior. However, these impressions already here took some courses, rhythms and different senses as for example in the white city and eminent person of Popayán. From the discourse and the economy, ideas of welfare were built: the Centenary of Independence (1810-1910), the Northern Highway, the Southern Highway, among others. The documentary sources used for this work and for the audiovisual support of the same were bibliographies, newspapers, magazines, official records, public deeds, theses, interviews, photographs and documentary videos.
