Los efectos del uso del Español (L1) en el proceso de aprendizaje del inglés (LE) en los estudiantes de primer semestre de la Licenciatura en Educación Básica Primaria

Abstract

El presente trabajo investigativo se realizó con el fin de encontrar o identificar los efectos del uso del español en el proceso de aprendizaje del inglés en los estudiantes de primer semestre de la Licenciatura en Educación Básica Primaria de la Universidad del Cauca. En los primeros capítulos del documento se encuentra el objetivo principal de nuestra investigación, el cual fue el de caracterizar el uso del español (L1) durante el proceso de aprendizaje de inglés (LE) más específicamente de los estudiantes de primer semestre de la Licenciatura en Educación Básica, esto ya que en la búsqueda de ampliar nuestra visión sobre el aprendizaje de una lengua extranjera en otros programas dentro de la universidad, creímos pertinente realizar la investigación con su colaboración como sujetos de estudio. Para nuestro marco conceptual nos basamos en conceptos tales como la interlengua, la interferencia, y la transferencia positiva, así como en nuestro marco teórico encontramos la teoría de la interlengua desarrollada por Larry Selinker y la teoría del análisis contrastivo, desarrollada por Wardhugh quien diferencia una hipótesis fuerte y una hipótesis débil del mismo.Seguidamente, nos apoyamos en un enfoque cualitativo y a su vez utilizamos la entrevista semiestructurada y un grupo focal como instrumentos de recolección de datos. La investigación encontró diferentes percepciones de los estudiantes respecto al uso del español en el aula, a su utilidad en el aprendizaje y a la interferencia. Finalmente, las conclusiones y recomendaciones que consideramos pertinentes al finalizar nuestro proyecto investigativo.

This research work was done in order to find the effects of the use of Spanish in the process of learning English in the first semester students of the bachelor’s degree in Elementary School at the Universidad of Cauca. In the first chapters of this document it is found the main objective of our research, which was to characterize the use of Spanish (L1) during the process of learning English (FL), more specifically of the first semester students of the Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, this because in the search for expanding our vision on the learning of a foreign language in other programs within the university, we believed pertinent to conduct the research with their collaboration as subjects of study. For our conceptual framework we rely on concepts such as interlanguage, interference, and positive transfer, as well as in our theoretical framework we find the theory of interlanguage developed by Larry Selinker and the theory of contrastive analysis, developed by Wardhugh who differentiates a strong and a weak hypothesis of the same. Next, we rely on a qualitative approach and in turn we use the semi-structured interview and a focus group as instruments of data collection. The research found different perceptions of the students regarding the use of Spanish in the classroom, its usefulness in learning and interference, but for the most part the findings were oriented towards a high effectiveness of the use of Spanish for FL learning in beginner contexts, if it is used moderately to give indications or explanations of complex grammatical topics. And finally, the conclusions and recommendations that we consider pertinent at the end of our research project.
