Designing and testing an elemental french online course for newly enrolled Modern Languages students of the University of Cauca

Abstract

La presente investigación explica el diseño y la evaluación de un curso en línea de francés para estudiantes que ingresan a primer semestre del Programa de Licenciatura en Lenguas Modernas con Énfasis en Inglés-Francés (PLLMEIF) de la Universidad de Cauca. Para el diseño del presente curso se tuvo en cuenta el diseño de investigación proyectiva, la cual consiste en elaborar una propuesta para dar soluciones a problemas prácticos en las instituciones educativas. De esta manera, se utilizó la plataforma online Wix.com con el fin de crear el curso previo online, el cual tiene contenidos que se fundamentaron en el microcurrículo de la asignatura de francés elemental I de primer semestre del PLLMEIF. Además, para el desarrollo integral del curso se diseñó a través del modelo instruccional ADDIE. Finalmente se planteó una evaluación del curso mediante un cuestionario inicial y uno final. Para mostrar la interacción de los participantes en la página web con los recursos didácticos y demás recursos evaluativos que se usaron en la plataforma, se usó una entrevista semiestructurada y una gráfica de barras.

This research explains the design and evaluation of an online French course for the first semester students of the Bachelor’s Program in Modern Languages with Emphasis on English and French (BPMLEEF) at the University of Cauca. For the design of this course, the projective research design was taken into account, which consists of elaborating a proposal to provide solutions to practical problems in educational institutions. In this way, the online platform Wix.com was used in order to create the online pre-course, which were based on the first-semester French syllabus of the BPMLEEF. In addition, for the integral development of the course, it was designed through the ADDIE instructional model. Finally, the course was evaluated by means of an initial and a final questionnaire. A semi-structured interview and a bar chart were used to show the interaction of the participants on the web page with the didactic and other evaluative resources used on the platform.
